Exercise and Hypertension
Researches revealed that exercise and hypertension are conversally related. Hypertension is a disease that makes people five times more prone to strokes, three times more likely to have a heart attack, and two to three times more likely to experience a heart failure.A heart attack is a condition, in which, the myocardium or the heart muscle does not get enough oxygen and other nutrients and so it begins to die.
The problem with this disease is that a majority who are affected by hypertension are unaware of it as they never feel any direct pain. Doctors say that reducing salt intake, adopting a desirable dietary pattern losing weight and exercising can all help prevent hypertension.
Among these, the most significant contribution is from exercise. Not only that exercise strengthens and improves limb muscles, it also enhances the health of the heart muscles. The advantage of exercise is that it can stimulate the development of new connections between the impaired and the nearly normal blood vessels. People who exercise have a better blood supply to all the muscle tissue of the heart.
Researchers have observed that exercise can stimulate the development of life saving detours in the heart. The studies also showed that moderate exercise several times a week is more effective in building up these auxiliary pathways than extremely vigorous exercise done twice as often. The studies thus emphasis the importance of exercise in influencing your health and this awareness made some people think of exercise as a remedy for heart disorders, and that exercise could ensure protection against hypertension and premature death.
But before taking exercise seriously you should consult your doctor. Check with him if taking exercise will cause any problems on your circulatory system. If the doctor agrees, you can start the exercise program at a low, comfortable level of exertion and subsequently step up gradually. You should not allow your body to exert beyond its capacity. It is generally believed that weight loss through exercise is an excellent starting point . It can help you prevent hypertension, as overweight and hypertension and closely correlated as exercise and hypertension are conversally related.
